Summer Book Signings

As we hurtle through summer, or an excuse for a summer should I say, I’ve attended several

book signings and I have to say last weekend’s visit to the UK Corvette Nationals has been

my favourite so far.

I spent an entertaining day talking with many of the Corvette owners about my book and

Route 66, listening to their experiences and giving advice to those wanting to tick this iconic

road off their bucket list.

Over 140 beautiful Corvette cars were on display, representing the marque throughout the

ages: a treat for all car lovers. Combined with endless Spitfire and Mustang displays - flying

passengers over the aerodrome and the surrounding countryside, the day was a special one for

everyone - especially me. I was reminded of my days as an ‘aviator’ when I had the privilege

to fly in a Tiger Moth at Bicester Heritage, an emotional taxi ride in ‘Just Jane,’- the

Lancaster Bomber at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre and not forgetting the

helicopter ride over the Hoover Dam and down to the Colorado River at the base of The

Grand Canyon!

The first weekend in August, I will be guesting at the NSRA Supernationals in Old Warden,

where I will be holding court at my stall alongside Dave, who will be debuting his Austin

A40 Devon van. Our trusty Ford Model A Phaeton will also be in attendance, as always, and

I even get my own Q and A session in the marquee on the Saturday!

And that’s not all. Dave and I have been invited to attend Car Fest South, near Newbury over

the August Bank holiday weekend, or should I say the Devon and the Phaeton have been

invited and we’re allowed to tag along.

Lots to look forward to and fingers crossed we’ll see an uptick in the weather during the

school holidays.
